Rodeo Nights - A First-Time Experience
About the Series
It was my first time at a rodeo, and I didn’t quite know what to expect — but I knew I had to bring my camera. The atmosphere was alive: music playing, families laughing, cowboys prepping backstage, and the air rich with the scent of fried treats and fresh lemonade.
I was with my nearest and dearest — people who make any moment better — and together we soaked in the energy of the night.
Using my favorite Fujifilm arsenal, I captured stories in color and texture: a rider’s calm before the gate opens, a child’s awe in the crowd, the dust clouds swirling in the last light of sunset. Each frame felt like a reminder that joy doesn’t have to be loud — it’s often just real.

One of my favorite shots from the evening was a cowboy mid-ride, captured using camera action shot with my Fujifilm XH2s. The motion blur of the background against the crisp silhouette of the rider perfectly reflected the speed, tension, and raw beauty of that moment.
